IF THESE INSTRUCTIONS DON'T MATCH WHAT YOU SEE ON YOUR SCREEN...
You may be using our older Legacy website. To access those instructions, click here.
To learn more about accessing your account after forgetting your password or your account being locked, please follow the instructions below:
Clicking the Reset Password link at the sign in page (after clicking the blue Sign into your account button) is the easiest way to access your eFile account if your password does not work.
- Head for FileNow.me, then select your state followed by the eFile & Serve option to reach the correct landing page prior to resetting your password.
You will then receive a password reset link in an email. (See below.)
Before clicking the Reset Password link, check the following:
- Please verify you are on the correct web address by going to filenow.me, clicking on your state, then selecting eFile & Serve.
- NOTE: If your state's eFile website is not functioning, please scroll down to the Legacy Sites section and select your state (if your state has a backup Legacy site).
- Check to make sure the CAPS lock is not turned on. Passwords are case sensitive.
- Do not use your browser AutoFill. The AutoFill can enter in the wrong password. Type in your password.
If you are locked out of your account because the password was entered incorrectly too many times, contact Filer Support and we will unlock your account for you.
- NOTE: You will be locked out of your account after five unsuccessful sign-in attempts!
- You can use the same password as you had used before.
- Please Note: If you do not have access to the registered user's email, you may need to register a new account, as the reset password link can only be sent to the registered user's email.
- Please Note: If you have not yet registered an account with the efile website with the email address you are trying to login with, you will receive an "Invalid username or password" error message just as if you needed to reset your password. The password reset link we email you will only last for fifteen minutes. You may need to register an account using the email address you are trying to log in with.
NOTE: In North Carolina, the Email field is labelled User ID instead (as shown below). Do not be confused by this difference in nomenclature; the User ID is still your email address.

Can I Reset My Password via Text?
Emails containing password reset links are sent to your registered email. The eFile & Serve website does not allow filers to reset their passwords via text.
KEEP IN MIND...
Please note...
- You can use the same password as you had used before.
