After selecting a court location within the Case tab of your draft, you will be prompted to select a Case Category and/or Case Type for the draft. If no options generate, this indicates the selected court location does not have any options configured for efiling.
If the wrong Case Category and/or Case Type options populate, the selected court location may have the incorrect options configured.
- NOTE: Support representatives cannot tell you what Case Category or Case Type to select. These options are configured on the court's end. Filer Support does not know what these options mean, as we are not legal experts.
This may also be by the court's design. This may indicate that this particular court location does not allow for a new case to be started through the efiling site.
At other times, Case Category or Case Type options may not populate if the court does not allow for a particular type of filing to be efiled. (Example: Criminal court locations often do not allow criminal cases to be started via the website, or a filer may not have Criminal case permissions assigned to their account).
You can look in the Court Location dropdown menu to see if any other locations are applicable instead of the current selection as well. Some courts will need filers to initiate the case and provide a case number to file into at the physical court location instead of filing a new case on the site.
