An Envelope Number is a number that identifies every filing in the Odyssey File & Serve system, whether that filing contains one PDF file or multiple PDF documents. The moment a draft is successfully submitted, the Odyssey File & Serve system assigns it an Envelope Number.
- PLEASE NOTE: An Envelope Number is not the same thing as a Case Number. Envelope Numbers are assigned to specific filings by the system, while Case Numbers are assigned by the court and may contain multiple individual filings. For more information on the differences between the two, please refer to the following FAQ article.
- PLEASE NOTE: A Draft Number is a temporary number assigned to a filing before it is submitted to the court or eserved to other parties on a case. Once the filing has been filed with the court or eserved to others, it is assigned an Envelope Number.
You can find the Envelope Number for your filings via your Filing History on your Dashboard. The Envelope Number is listed underneath the filing's Case Number. If a filing does not have a Case Number assigned to it (like newly-Submitted filings or filings that have been Rejected / Returned by the court), the Envelope Number will also appear as the title of the filing.
To see more of the filing's details, click View Filing History.
