If your filing type is designated as Efile and Serve or Serve, after clicking on the Service button you will be taken the Service tab. This section will show you the parties involved in the case along with contacts currently attached to the case to receive eService. If you do not see names with email addresses listed below the parties, or if you have a red message stating "At least one service contact must be served. ", this means no email contacts have been added to the case yet.
To continue you will need to either add a service contact email by clicking one of the 3 options at the top of the page.
*Please Note: You should NOT add opposing sides as contacts to a case unless you are adding them from the Public List. If they are not on the Public List you will need to serve them through traditional methods. The Public list and Add New option vary by state. See What is the Public List? (Service Contacts)
The other option is to return to the Filings tab and change the Filing Type to Efile Only instead of Efile and Serve. Once you have taken one of these actions you will be able to proceed to the Fees tab.
*Please Note: If you opt to associate the new Service Contact with Other Service Contacts (or Other - No Party Association), you will receive a pop-up notice warning you that "Parties will be removed if "Other" is selected," as shown below.
This does not mean that the other Parties will be removed from the case! What this message means is: if you had previously associated this Service Contact with any other Parties on the case, this Service Contact entry will now be associated with "Other" instead. If you are adding a new Service Contact and not editing a previously-added one, you can safely disregard this message and click "OK".
