The following FAQ should answer all your questions about the different user accounts we offer and their intended uses.
Q: What types of user accounts are offered?
A: The Odyssey File & Serve system offers both Individual (or Pro Se) Accounts and Firm Accounts. Depending on the state, you may only have an option to register for a Firm Account.
Q: What is an Individual or Pro Se Account?
A: An Individual or Self-Represented Account is an account for individual non-attorney filers. These are accounts for Pro Se filers (or filers representing themselves in a case), process servers, businesspeople, landlords and tenants, or other non-parties filing into cases (like employers filing garnishment information). In brief: these are accounts for anyone who isn't an attorney (though out-of-state or pro hac vice lawyers can use them, too).
If you need to file Pro Se or to file without a lawyer, you will need to register an Individual Account.

Q: What is a Firm Account?
A: Firm Accounts are accounts for attorneys and other legal professionals, specifically solo attorney practitioners or law firms with multiple filers, whether those filers are themselves attorneys or paralegals filing on behalf of attorneys.

Q: What are the differences between either account?
A: Individual or Pro Se Accounts are standard single-user efiling accounts meant solely for filing paperwork with the court or serving paperwork to other parties in a case. There's only one user, and there's only one account administrator — the account-holder.
Firm accounts can have multiple users (set up by the Firm Administrator) linked to the same account. These users can share payment accounts (set up solely by the Firm Administrator) across all user accounts.

Q: Help! I accidentally registered the wrong account type! What do I do now?
A: Did you accidentally register an Individual Account instead of registering with your law firm? Did you accidentally register a firm account separate from the law firm you work for? Either you can delete your account to register a proper firm account or we can help you to either change your account type or merge it with the proper firm account.
