To prevent document processing errors when submitting and when the court reviews your document(s), it is recommended to upload documents that do not contain a Security/Password restriction (Documents with eSignatures may have a security restriction on them). Flattening your PDF creates a digital hard copy of your document that cannot be edited and that doesn’t contain a security restriction.
Below are some recommended ways to prepare your document. Please be advised we are not able to perform advanced troubleshooting for your document/device/PDF application. If you encounter trouble with any of the following steps, please consult with the manufacturer of these applications/programs.
Adobe Acrobat Reader (Windows Users)
- Open PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader. Select “File” and choose “Print.”
- A Printer Dialogue box will open. Click the drop-down field next to “Printer”. To Print to PDF, locate and select “Microsoft Print to PDF” or “Adobe PDF.” Click “Print.”
- This will prompt you to name and save your updated PDF. Click “Save.”
Microsoft Word (Windows Users)
- Open document in Microsoft Word. Select “File.
- Choose “Print” from Menu. Click the drop-down field next to “Printer”. To Print to PDF, locate and select “Microsoft Print to PDF.” Click Print.”
- This will prompt you to name and save your updated PDF. Click “Save.”
Pages (Mac Users)
- Open document in Pages application. Select “File”, “Export to”, and choose “PDF…”
- An “Export Your Document” dialogue box will open. Click “Next…”
- You will be prompted to name your PDF and choose where to save your PDF. When complete, select “Export.”
Preview (Mac Users)
- Open document in Pages application. Select “File” and choose “Export…”
- You will be prompted to enter a name for your PDF and to choose where to save your PDF. Ensure “Format:” is set to “PDF.” Select “Save” when complete.
